Josh Cortez is an 8th-generation Texan with deep roots in Texas' 35. His family has ranched on the same Spanish land grant in South Texas since 1773. The son of an Air Force family and descendant of public servants and educators, Josh has a strong ingrained sense of service, work ethic, and connection to community.
Josh brings a wide-ranging background from small business owner, entrepreneur, college professor, tech founder, and senior congressional staffer. As a Guadalupe county local he played a key role in flipping Texas’ 15th Congressional District and has built trusted relationships with local leaders across Texas's 35th district.
A proud lifelong Republican with strong Christian values, Josh has longstanding ties to the region’s conservative grassroots, including through his family’s involvement in the Republican Party of Texas, Texas Pro-Life causes, and Texas Federation of Republican Women. Since his days as a student at New Braunfels Christian Academy, to his first job after college in the US Senate and beyond, he has been consistently involved with the conservative causes.
Drawing on his experience as a South Texas Political Director, Harvard Fellow and Republican Capitol Hill advisor, Josh is ready to fight for the people of Texas' 35th District, a region he and his family have long called home.
