Cortez Files for Congress in Texas’ 35th District, Says He’s “In It to Win It” Despite Court Chaos

November 20, 2025

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (November 20, 2025) — Conservative Republican Josh Cortez filed today to run for the United States House of Representatives in Texas’ 35th Congressional District, reaffirming his commitment to the race despite this week’s disruptive ruling from a panel of unelected federal judges.

“As of today, I am the first and only candidate filed for Texas’ 35th Congressional District — and I am in it to win it,” Cortez said. “The new district lines reflect the will of Texas voters. They were drawn lawfully, constitutionally, and with real communities in mind, and no ruling from unelected judges will change my commitment to the people of District 35.”

Cortez noted that the 35th District — which includes part of Bexar County and all of Guadalupe, Karnes, and Wilson Counties — is ready for strong, conservative leadership that stands with President Trump and fights to put Texas First.

“The voters of District 35 deserve a local representative who shares their values and fights for their future,” Cortez said. “I’m running because this district is real, it is lawful, and I intend to represent it with conviction.”

Cortez will speak tonight at the Bexar County Young Republicans Candidate Forum at Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling at 6PM, where he will address the race and the latest developments with the courts. He will also be available for press interviews on the state of the race and the path forward for District 35.

Cortez’s filing follows strong momentum, including outraising all of his Republican opponents combined in the third quarter and building a growing coalition across the district.
